It has been one bitter cold and snowy winter to date. We are all bundled up to keep warm, especially my boys who have no choice but to go outside.
I have done more than my share of shoveling and have resorted to doing just what I need to get outside to the car and mailbox. Before the huge snow storm I shoveled wide and far to make room for the new snow. Now I just shovel the width of the shovel except for the driveway. And I have already broken one!
I move the car out of the gated area to the driveway once the snow is done and the plow truck clears the bottom half of the drive. Yes, I need to do that part two as there is about 2 inches of snow left there and I do not want it to ice. But after the car was moved, I noticed lots and lots of footprints where the car was parked! The birds seem to have taken refuge form the snow and wind that last night when it was brutally cold. I am glad that they were safe and warm! The car was parked close to the feeder, so they did not have to venture far for food! No matter how cold, I go out there and fill the birdfeeders with fresh sunflower seed and suet.
Gunnarr and Shorty are not convinced they need to move off the porch. A little encouragement has them walking along the path.
And with the cold and snow comes ice dams. We have huge ice dams on the new roof and yes, there was a leak into the house. It never stops! The roof man come over in the morning and cleared them so we should be good! And they promised me no ice dams with this roof. So much for promises!
My boys. Shorty.
And yes, we still miss our little Fionnegan.
Happy Valentine's Day to all!
Until next time.......................
