09.02.18 A final farewell to Paula

This is Labor Day weekend - where many of us do not have to labor! It is also the unofficial last day of summer for us in the USA.  We tend to take one last summer holiday, have at least a barbeque or two and enjoy family and friends.

But yesterday was also a very solemn day. The funeral Mass was held for Paula, a dear friend and benefactor to many. The Mass was exactly as she had planned - and she planned every detail. Perhaps one of the most moving songs included the chorus "forever remember me as loving you". Certainly a very special way of being remembered. The Mass was held in a small church not far from where she lived and was packed. Many of her teaching colleagues and students were there. It was a loving tribute to a very special and loving woman.

A statue of Saint Mother Teresa is in the Church.

After Mass, we continued the celebrations at a lovely restaurant on the river front. She had ordered lobster rolls - her favorite! A beautiful setting and a beautiful day for a remembrance. No doubt she would have approved.

Rest in Peace Paula, we all miss you already.
