04.05.19 Spring in New England

Ah New England. So much to discuss form sports to politics to weather. Today, it is weather. No need to discuss the Red Sox as they are looking pretty sad this season. Lost last night bog time. O, the boys of summer. And perhaps that is when they should start the season, in the summer. But that is another topic.

Last night it snowed. Yes, snow. In April. No accumulation but real, bona fide snow came down in a fury last evening. The dogs were having a great time chasing the flakes. Maybe this is the last snow of the season? It is Spring - we should be having blue skies and sunshine, a bit of rain to help our gardens grow and nice warm weather. But it is cold and dreary this morning as we are doing our chores. I still have my winter coat handy for the cold mornings.

Garden work will be put on hold until the yard dries out a bit, I need to decide if I try to replant grass in the large bare spots or convert all of it into another garden. Need something less muddy for those little paws that like to run. We do have hyacinths and lilies peaking through the ground. No sign of a crocus or snow drop this year. Maybe I need to plant new ones in the fall. Need to make a note of that.

But we are staying warm and in good spirits. My boys are doing well. Shorty had a very difficult time with the vets this year - yes vets. I had to take him to two different ones for his rabies immunizations. (see mydogshorty.blogspot.com)  He is a good dog, just has no tolerance for rough or surprise management. And the first vet left much to be desired. But he is good for three years and I am much relieved to have that behind us. Fionnegan and Gunnarr missed him while we were out, and when I brought Shorty back home they rushed past me to give him a welcome home nose bump. It is nice to see that they have bonded so well. It could have gone all wrong when we brought Shorty back from Yap.

All dressed up in their sweaters before the final wash and winter storage. They patiently wait for me at the door to let them in.  They are really happy dogs.

OK, maybe they are not so patient, especially Gunnarr.

Even Shorty gets into the barking act to let them back inside the house.

A new birthday sweater for Shorty. He has now been here for two years. Seems like he has always lived here. What an adventure for a dog from Yap, the multiple plane rides, the quarantine and the confinement in a dog carrier. No wonder he is mostly very good here.

Helping me with yard work? Keeping an eye out for me? Or just relaxing in the sunshine that day. This is Shorty, he respects the gate and never rushes it when I enter or leave - so far.

Until next time ……
May your days be many and your troubles be few. And may all God's blessings descend upon you.
