07.04.2022 Happy 4th of July

 Independence Day.  A weekend of celebration of the birth of our nation on July 4, 1776. I often think about what stand what I take - be a loyalist to the British or a rebel and fight for freedom? I guess I do not have to ponder that question for long - I would be the rebel fighting for our cause of independence, a new beginning and freedom.

And I love fireworks. I am a fireworks chaser! Last night I went to see them at CPYC (Winthrop) where my little Mimi is moored. It was a great evening; the weather was perfect and not only was there the town sanctioned fireworks but there were quite a few extras along the beach.  If it weren't for those pesky little no-see-ums (little flying bugs that bite) the evening would have been perfect. I had a front row place against the rail and enjoyed the opportunity to video a few segments of the displays.

But first, I am more than happy to say that Mimi has made it to her mooring safe and sound. Today I spent some time tuning her up to get ready for sailing. She has new rigging and lines and I am hopeful she will be smooth sailing!

07/04/18 Independence Day!

Many people forget that we Americans were once a colony. Our forefathers declared independence in 1776 and the people living in the Boston area were very instrumental in this movement for freedom. We celebrate this grand event with reflection, baseball, outings with family and friends, cook-outs and my favorite - fireworks.  Often I go into Boston to the esplanade or to the boat club to see the display. This year I stayed closer to home and went to Acton to watch them. While not as extensive as the Boston fireworks, they are still beautiful and exciting. And no challenges with parking!

07.04.15 4th of July Independence Day

To all of my American friends - May you all have a wonderful 4th of July celebration - good weather, the Red Sox win, a nice BBQ, the company of good friends and enjoy the fireworks! I will miss all of that and I do love the fireworks on  the Esplanade. And Winthrop. And every else we can watch them! While some people are eclipse chasers, I am a fireworks display chaser. I try to see as many displays as I can,

There is a chance of seeing some fireworks around the American Embassy here tonight, although not certain. We are leaving at 6AM to go to another garment factory for health screening and won't be back until very late. The long days have started.

Last night we had a wonderful and delicious dinner at the home of one of Ruhul's friends. It was a lovely evening with good food and good company. A very enjoyable evening.
