02.12.15 Guam to Pohnpei

The day layover in Guam was fun and I oculd have spent more time there. This time stayed in a hotel and splet for a couple of hours then headed to the Micronesia Mall. Needed a pair of shoes and there was a Macy's, PayLess and the Aerosoles just went out of business. But Macy's had a great sale and it was fun to be in a mall again.

Then made it to Pohnpei at 2 AM and was exhausted. The workshop went well, but there has not been many advancements in the field taking care of Ebola patients as I had hoped. They only alluded to some places doing a bit more sophisticated management than basic care. The mortality in these places is 75%. Hence Americans and Europeans go home if symptoms develop.

Here are a few pictures from Guam and Pohnpei.

It is always nice to see "USA" when traveling.

Conference exercises testing the groups knowledge of an Ebola virus and infection.

Angela from WHO and Daniele, who served as a nurse taking care of Ebola infected patients in Liberia.

The head nurse at Pohnpei with Dr. Mark Durant, who was once director at Yap State Hospital.

Jeffra, a nurse at Pohnpei Hospital, wears a matching plumeria flower with every outfit.

My hotel room - with "natural" ventilation between the planks of the walls.
