08.23.15 Shopping at the Mall of Asia

No, I am not at the mall in Gagil but I am in Manila, Philippines. This is my first time to the country and it is a bit rainy, so that is limiting my walking. But I did take the shuttle to the Mall of Asia (MOA) and it is incredible. I probably walked my three miles here! There are stores that we have at home as well as many local named stores. They also have an arena and an ice skating rink! It was really fun to just walk around and look "at all of this stuff!". You would think I had been on the moon for the last year, but Yap or FSM does not have any major shopping stores. I needed a few things for Shorty and found them. The SM Department store has everything you can imagine from children's clothes to an area similar to Home Depot. There are many employees most willing to help.

I am in the Hyatt in the "City of Dreams" which has a floor of high end stores, DreamWorld from DreamWorks with Simba and other characters, and a lot of regional restuarants. Went to the Authentic Philippine Restaurant and the food was excellent. This was really fun. Not too many pictures as it is raining and it also is a little bit hard to walk around and explore. The casino was interesting - I walked around to watch the various tables. I don't gamble so didn't pull up a chair, but it was really fun to watch everyone. I am having a good time and it is a very nice break. There is talk of the Chinese wanting to build a casino in Yap, but it is really hard to imagine how the local people would handle a huge resort hotel, trained guard dogs at the entrance and security scanning the trunk of the car and underneath for bombs or illegal substances.

Here are a few pictures.

A welcome fruit bowl and my nu-nu presented to me when I left Yap. This nu-nu was made of a fern type of plant interwoven with flowers. It was different and beautiful.

The airport is very close and I can watch planes take-off and land from my window.

Mall of Asia - yes here is a Zamboni on the ice rink.

These pictures are of poor quality but am sharing them anyway. The mall was packed with people. Must be the place to go on a rainy Sunday afternoon. There was almost every possible store there - I think over 400. And they are adding more! I had to get a couple of things for Shorty and was able to easily find them. Yes, I went shopping for my puppy.

This young lady is instructing the audience on "Stiletto Aerobics". Yes, in addition to the body hugging outfit, she is wearing stilettos.

And there was a small marhing band playing music for people outside of the mall.
