Manila is an interesting city. There is a real mix of poverty and wealth. Had a little time to look around but did not venture far on my own. The National Museum was closed, unfortunately, but I hope at some time in the future to be able to visit.
It is raining and cloudy again - all day. Typhoon Goni made landfall north of us (the typhoon has a new name when it is in Philippine territory) so I guess that is why we have winds and rain and cloudy skies. Just makes it hard to walk outside. But I have a lot of work to get done, so sitting still is not such a bad idea.
Went back to the Mall of Asia and when the weather improved, walked along the seawall. First, I did some much needed shopping, I must make a correction to yesterday's blog - there are over 400 food stalls or restuarants (not shops) and over 1200 shops!
Walking along the Manila Bay was fun. Less crowds on a Monday - was told everyone goes to the Mall on the weekend - hence it was packed Sunday.
Here are a few pictures where I was walking - you will see that I like to take pictures of people taking pictures!
This is a picture of the tower of color at the casino. The casino is in my hotel complex. That makes it easy to get shuttle transportation.
DreamPlay by DreamWorks is also in the hotel complex. Yesterday it was packed with a long line to get in. Today, a reasonable line. Kids and adults appear to enjoy it as I took pictures for a few adult tourists.
Simba is cute.
Security dog at the casino. I suspect they are to sniff for drugs. People were petting him and his trainer was showing us how he sits, lies done, and obeys other commands.
Nice design.
The park along the seawall behind the Mall of Asia. There is a lot of fun things for kids and adults and quite a food food stalls too.
A few little dogs, puppies and people taking loving care of their pets. Shorty ould have had a good time, don't you think?
O, young love!
The working docks are a bit away, but the telephoto lens picked up the ship and cranes.
There are some neat signs along the seawall to keep people aware of the environment and their own safety. Police patrol the area to keep the crowd aware of the risks of the sea just beyond the wall.
Do we really need a better reason to take care of Mother Earth? Chocolate says it all!
Love this tocket booth!
Manila Bay splashing over the seawall.
The little boy must be smiling! He was so cute.
The exploring cat.
You may sit on the seawall, but no standing or jumping.
Another version of the common hairstyle the Mohawk.
Beautiful Husky. Saw another one in Pet Express. I always wanted a blue eyed husky. Fionnegan and Gunnarr have black eyes, Shorty has light brown. Maybe a husky is next.
Someone was taking a picture of them, so I did too! They liked it and came to stand by me! Miss Philippines is beautiful.
Our Lady of the Airways. Right next to the airport and a parush church.
Meet Mr. Bones!
Cool buses in a variety of colors.
