11/11/17 Last day in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, part 1.

Spent the morning walking around the area before getting to leave. Decided to make rounds on the post-operative patients and it was a really special visit for all of us. I also used the time to give myself a self guided tour of the hospital and take pictures. Not many people here on a Saturday, so it makes photography a little easier, plus I was able to take a few close-ups of people, with their permission, claro.

Then I walked around the area, went shopping at the department store Diunsa, had a mango and chocolate ice cream - very good, then headed back to the hotel to prepare for the trip home. No doubt Fionnegan, Gunnarr and Shorty will  be happy to see me as I come home in the wee hours of the morning.

Here are a few more pictures. I especially enjoy the ones of the kids and the people at the hospital. Will post the kids on the next post. These are pictures of the inside of the hospital. There are several courtyards which must help with the heat of the summer months.

Look through the window to find the Christmas. Pharmacy.

General surgery ward for women.

Dove with a white tail.

Medical oncology ward for women.

Jorge, a surgical oncology resident, working in the resident's lounge. He is on call for Saturday.

A few surgical oncology patients.

This pigeon followed me around for a while, probably looking for food.

Did a bit of bird watching inside the hospital grounds. Lots of mockingbirds and catbirds too.

Recognition of breast cancer. The entire oncology unit of the hospital is really quite nice.

Be good. Santa is coming!

Waiting area for the laboratory. It is full on clinical days.

A little hallway café.

Security guards at the entrance of the hospital.
