05.30.15 OI trip report - Fedraii

It is nice to be back. After laundry, banking, etc went to see Heidi the the kids. Always nice to gethugs and kisses from those littleones. Then met up with Agnes who treated me to an ice cream cone (YES!) and then got Shorty. He wags his tail in a circle when he gets excited in adition to side to side. So he was happy to see me and we came home last night and both of us went right to sleep. One of us tried to sneak a treat in bed. Not allowed!

Kept a short journal and here are the notes from the beginning of the trip:

May 13, 2015 to May 15, 2015

We left on Hapilmohol 1 at about 6 PM – an on time departure – from the dock in Colonia. The ship was crowded as a funeral was to take place in Fedrai. Augustine from the hospital was there – his brother had died from lung cancer. His brother is Ivan’s uncle. Everyone is related.  There was some “confusion” about where Melissa and I would stay, finally were able to get the clinic room with just two bunk beds. The meal plan is not quite what I was told, but was told many different things. Good thing I brought food. It is hot in the cabin – good thing I brought a fan. But we need a much bigger one. The one thing the guys on the trip were asked to bring was AA batteries for the hand held fans I was giving them. And that is right, they did not bring batteries.

Sunset was modest, but it is nice to be underway. The breeze outside is comforting. Thomas Welog is the FTO (Field trip officer) and we had a meeting in his room. We may stop quickly in Ulithi and Fais because of the storm. [Typhoon Dolphin was north of us and affecting the seas.]

Fedraii in the Ulithi atoll. There was a funeral and Father Kelly was there to officiate.

Our ship, Hapilmohol 1.
