04.05.15 Update on Green Boat Men and HAPPY EASTER

Yesterday we were preparing a ship to serve as a Red Cross disaster relief mission to Ulithi and Fais. (That will be a separate blog.) The men from the green boat were very helpful passing along the bags of rice and large containers of water for the islanders. Before I left last night, a couple of them asked if anyone had a guitar, they wanted to play and sing. As luck would have it, Lupo was in front of me at Church, so I asked him if he was willing to bring his guitar. And he did.
It was a great Easter morning. One of the men from Nepal played and the others clapped their hands and/or sang. It really was very special.
But - there is always a but I guess. The captain and the sole crew were deported back to Indonesia last night. Shortly after they left, the green boat sank. The men were all aboard and are safe. But this is really a sad turn of events for them as they sleep on the boat. Government officals were there, we'll see what happens.

A man from Nepal plays and sings. He is a very nice if a somewhat shy young man. And he knows about Facebook, google searches, and language translations online. It is a small world.

Kate and Lupo. Volunteer teachers from Yap Catholic.

See the men clapping in the background.

Now he is ready! He added the guitar strap. He is going through the music looking for a song to play. Lupo did the same thing before he played.

The green boat is sinking. Perhaps the tarp can be salvaged. Coincidence? You can see the water line on the tarp.
