04.11.15. Mogmog (Ulithi atoll)

Mogmog is the very special island, where the men and women wear only the traditional dress (thu for men and lavalava for women, neither of whom wear a shirt). The islad has very few structures standing.

Here are a few pictures:

Supplies transferred from ship to motor boat.

Preparing a little betel nut. Addiction across the islands.

Red footed booby landed on our ship.

Church decorated for Easter Mass.

She is doing OK. We had a nice talk on the shore. It is so terribly hot there.

Here is our 48 foot fishing boat that transported us and the supplies across the sea.

Passing supplies from the motor boats to the shore.

Kids are usually resilient. Here they are playing.

Traditional style homes - almost all were destroyed as were the cooking structures.

 Even concrete homes were damaged.

Survived for another day.

Pulling up the anchor was heavy work.
