09.13.14. People, houses, boats along the way

The population of Colonia is around 1200. So eventually everyone gets to know everyone. Had met some nice people along the way.

Here are a few pictures of boats, some of the locals I met while walking, some old and some new houses, and a few flowers and dogs.

OK. We actually never met. But cold not resist this post lunch napper.

Many houses are painted bright colors - pink, blue, white, yellow. Very attractive.

Local handicraft shop. Have my eyes on a couple of things.

Fishing camp.

She has a crooked ear. Reminded me of Fionnegan, who also had a crooked left ear, until Gunnarr arrived. The pulling on each others ears straighted Fionn's, perhaps this dog needs a buddy!

Nice house.

Bird of paradise.

Entering Rumuu.

Now, this is really local transportation.

These two watercraft are operational. And very common for those who cannot afford or  have no access to a motorboat.

Schools in the village of Rumuu.

Local guys.

This bus transports children to school and workers from the village to Colonia then back home. One trip in to the big city, one trip back to the village.

This is where I took shelter when it started pouring with rain. While I was wearing my blue poncho, the rain was really heavy and it just seemed like a good idea to wait it out somewhere dry.

Nice family. The Mom is working on removing the paint.
