12.12.14 Not gone yet

Well, one must remember that this is not home. Somehow it was overlooked that the airlines was not paid. And if not paid in advance, we cannot fly. So we are all packed and no where to go! This will be sorted out and we will leave sometime next week.

One thing that could greatly improve here is communication, this is just one of many examples. No one really talks about consequential things. Yesterday the co-ordinator spoke to the airlines to make sure we all had a seat, but the woman at the airlines did not mention payment was not paid. And no one takes a check - it must be cashed first, then you are good to go on every level. There are very few places (except hotels) here that even take a credit card - I can think of only two, and one is an American run business and the other is a small store next to and run by another hotel. This is a cash in hand society. And no, we don't use stone money!

The puppy I was going to adopt is now being adopted by a friend of mine, Angie, so this works. She agreed to adopt one but now will take both girls. So I should get to visit.

Here is Daniel and Angie and the four puppies. At eight weeks, they are about the  size of my Fionnegan and Gunnarr!

Angie and her new girl. They both look happy to have found each other!

It is hard to get all four together. As soon as they saw us they all ran towards us. I went to visit them one afternoon and they were so  excited.

Angie feeding her puppy some treats that we brought with us.

There was no enthusiasm for work today as we were all ready to leave. I watched Thursday night football, then got caught up with some personal things. I'll do some work tomorrow in the morning but I was not wanting to walk back up to the hospital in the rain. Another tropical storm has descended upon us. The trade winds do cool things down nicely - too cool for the locals, but then it becomes blazing hot and humid just after a storm.
