Christmas Eve

The holiday spirit is everywhere. Everyone wishes each otgher "Merry Christmas" and the people are happy even though the store shelves are bare. The freighter arrived today (12.24) and the food must be inspected before it can be sold. (good idea). Almost all of the stores had closed since 12.24 is also Constitution  Day, a national  holiday. But one store stayed open late and had a delivery of fresh vegetables. Sandra and George were at the market and brought things for our salad and turkey.

We had a stuffed turkey for Christmas Eve, a very nice evening shared with Judith, Sandra and George (the Austrian couple on the boat that was caught in the typhoon). They made the turkey and stuffing and appetizer.

Judith being camera shy. Did you see the napkins and paper plates? (Thank you Richard.)

Then it was off to Midnight Mass. What a very special occasion.  We had the traditional dancers singing the Gospel. The traditional Christmas carols were also in Yapese.
